Olive Oil Tasting Masterclass

Friday 26th May

Olive Oil has become a staple ingredient in many recipes, previously the reserve of mediterranean cooking it is now widely used in the UK.

With so many options available to purchase how do we make an informed decision on the best variety to use.

At Whatley we are in the fortunate position of having an Olive Oil producer amongst our team.

Sarah Wolferstan is an agriculturalist and part of our garden team. Sarah married into a Sicilian family and with her husband and two young children moved to Sicily where she learnt everything about olive growing and oil making, from farm management to pruning to qualifying as an oil taster. On returning to the UK, Sarah set up her company Alivu, to sell the family’s oil, and help others understand this amazing food and its history. Missing her olive groves she retrained as a horticultural gardener. In February this year commenced her training as a Master Oil Taster with Italy’s National Association of Olive Oil Tasters with Whatley’s Manor’s support.

Join us for a masterclass with Sarah where you will learn the history of olive oil, gain an understanding of the production methods, the difference in oils and  how they are categorised.

There will also be a tasting  guided by Sarah.
