An accessible country manor house hotel.

We want to ensure you enjoy your visit to Whatley Manor regardless of a medical condition, disability, impairment, or specific learning difficulty.

Prior to your arrival

Should you require a taxi to the hotel from Kemble Station (20 minute drive) or Bristol Airport (40 minute drive), we use a reliable company on a regular basis and we would be delighted to book them on your behalf. They do have vehicles suitable for wheelchairs if required. Directions to the hotel can be found here (https://www.whatleymanor.com/directions/)

On arrival at the hotel

Just drive straight to our door and we will valet park your car for you.

Entrance to the hotel is over a cobbled courtyard. Your luggage will be collected from your car on arrival and delivered to your room. You will be taken to your room and shown the layout of the public areas en-route.

Reception area
There is a rug on a polished stone floor and it is suitable for wheelchair users.

Accounting and credit card payment facilities are portable and brought to the guests for their convenience.

Reception is all on one level.

Public areas including gardens

Our corridors are well lit and we have polished stone floors with rugs which may need some guidance for people with walking difficulties. A member of the team will always be on hand to offer assistance.

There are four steps up to the Reception Hall where The Sitting Room, Drawing Room are accessed from. These steps can be covered by a portable ramp suitable for wheel chair access.

Our hotel lounge bar is accessed on the same level as the Reception Area. The Drawing Room may be accessed via a ramp. Because of the nature of our external areas and gardens, access is limited. In the summer months, access to terraces and the lower garden is via Cotswold stone slabs and some gravel. For a map of our gardens (https://www.whatleymanor.com/about-us/#gardens)

The restaurants are accessed from the ground floor apart from The Green Room which is in the courtyard and accessed via the front courtyard with cobbled stones.

There are a series of fire doors which are activated by a magnetic catch.

Ladies and Gents

There is a disabled lavatory that is located on the basement floor and can be accessed via the lift. The entrance door is 80cm wide. The lift doors are 1 metre wide. Our Ladies and Gents entrances are 80cm wide, while the cubicle doors are 65cm wide in Ladies and 65cm in the Gents. However every assistance will be given by discreet members of the team if required.

The Dining Room and Grey’s Brasserie

The Dining Room has a bamboo floor and Grey’s Brasserie has a tiled floor. Both are on the same level  and would be best accessed from the hotel. The doors remain open to these restaurants. There is also an outside access from our courtyard, where a ramp would be placed before the entrance to Grey’s Brasserie.

Our disabled toilet is situated on the basement floor and is easily accessible from both Grey’s Brasserie and The Dining Room. There is a lift that will take you to these toilets.

There is ample movable seating in both of our restaurants.

Background music plays in our restaurants, public areas and lounge bar.

There is a full waiter service.

All areas are well lit.

Accommodation

Bedrooms are either accessed via a lift or through the double doors leading from the cobbled courtyard onto stone floor to the ground floor rooms in the Tudor Wing.

We do not have adapted bathrooms and grab rails are not in the bedrooms as standard.

Room 23 situated on the top floor can be accessed via a lift. There are no steps from the lift into the hallway or entrance. The entrance door is 80cm wide. The bathroom has a shower cubicle that has a grab rail and alert cord, there is no bath.  The bathroom door is 80cm wide and the shower cubicle door is 80cm wide. There is also a grab rail next to the lavatory.

Small fridges are available in all rooms for keeping medication in.

Aquarias Spa

Drive directly to the front of the house and we will valet park your car for you.

A ramp can be placed on the one step up to the entrance to the Spa.

The whole of the ground floor is accessible to wheelchairs.

All corridors and public areas are well lit.

All doors and corridors are wide enough for wheelchairs and walking aid frames.

There is a lift to take guests to all floors.

A pool hoist is currently not available.

Service dogs (only) are allowed in the Spa.

The Boardroom Facilities

The boardroom is accessed over a cobbled stone courtyard with one step-up to the entrance. There are double doors which open into the boardroom which has a carpeted floor. The Gallery Rooms are on the same level as the boardroom. They are accessed via the boardroom and have a wooden floor.

A disabled toilet is available and accessed via The Gallery Rooms.

The cinema is on the same level as the disabled toilet and has double doors leading onto two steps which can be covered by a ramp. The cinema has a carpeted floor.

Service dogs are welcome as are pet dogs (by prior arrangement only).

Fire Safety

We are able to use the front entrance doors in the event of an evacuation. The bells will ring continuously if evacuation is needed and does not have flashing lights. If you require assistance for evacuating please notify us on arrival.

We have tried to be as accurate as possible and have included as much detail as we can in our Accessibility Statement, however we welcome your feedback to continuously improve on the information we provide.
