Sustainability & Community Commitment

Whatley Manor is extremely fortunate to be located within a community that actively embraces and recognises the critical importance of the sustainability agenda.

Whilst under the direction of Whatley General Manager, Sue Williams, the hotel has been forging ahead to make significant changes to the operation to achieve our 2028 goals, Malmesbury, Sherston and Tetbury communities have also been making great strides towards their own sustainability goals.

Having worked with various local businesses, council and government figures the Whatley Sustainability Ambassador felt the time was right to reach out to our neighbours to share knowledge, ideas, best practice and enthusiasm.

On May 24th a total of 16 representatives from nine organisations including Malmesbury Climate Action Network, Malmesbury Repair Café, Wiltshire Climate Alliance, Sustainable Sherston, Sherston county council, Tetbury Town Council and Greening Tetbury, met at Whatley and shared an inspiring, thought provoking and transparent discussion on this critical and pressing subject.

Sue Williams welcomed the group and updated them on the Whatley journey and invited Keith Freegard from Wiltshire Climate Alliance to introduce the alliance and its initiatives. Many questions were asked and thoughts  shared providing content for future gatherings. Sue plans to hold three events across the year and we look forward to more knowledge-sharing in the near future.

With thanks to Whatley Sustainability Officer – Florence Yu for bringing the event together.
