Sue Williams Awarded Lifetime Achievement Award
When Sue Williams attended the Boutique Hotelier Awards, she had no idea she was actually there to pick up the most coveted award of the night. The “Lifetime Achievement Award”, given to an individual who has had a lasting impact on the hotel industry this is one of the industries most treasured accolades. Not open to a public vote, winners are nominated by the team within Boutique Hotelier.
As Sue approaches her final weeks as General Manager of Whatley Manor, the Boutique Hotelier team recognised the opportunity to present the award to Sue as a fitting and worthy tribute to her long and hugely successful career in hotel management.

Many of the Whatley team surprised Sue by joining her on the evening to celebrate with her. The room was also filled with industry peers and past colleagues who were all delighted to share in the moment.
Sue will continue to work with Whatley to support their on-going commitment to operating sustainably and achieving their goal to reach Net Zero emissions.
Since 2019 Sue has been a leading exponent of sustainable business practices in the UK luxury hotel sector. One of the first to recognise the need for action, Sue has become an industry authority. Committing to EarthCheck accreditation from day one has ensured that Whatley as a business has been following an authentic and diligent path with credible monitoring and assessment.
As Sue moves into a new phase of her distinguished hospitality career she will continue to focus on sustainability and share her expertise within the industry.
